Help shape the place you live, work and spend your free time by joining the online community for Tameside.

Welcome to The Big Conversation - your local online community. This community is created by Tameside MBC especially for people who live, work and spend their free time in Tameside. By joining The Big Conversation you can help shape services that are offered by Tameside MBC and other organisations in the area.

The community gives you the opportunity to have your say in different ways. You can complete online surveys and polls as well as discussing issues that affect you and your area. You may also be asked to participate in interactive tasks using maps and diaries.

The Big Conversation will also help us keep you updated on how your views have helped influence the services we offer and how these are delivered.

The Big Conversation is a place where people can share their views about Tameside Council and its services as well as being part of an online community.

The community also allows people who cannot always attend meetings to have their say in a way and at a time that is convenient to them.

The Big Conversation is open to anyone who lives, works or spends their free time in Tameside.

As a council we must ensure the services we deliver are done so in the most effective and efficient way. This can mean that from time to time services have to be redesigned. The reason behind the need to redesign services can be driven by one, or a number, of factors including:

  • New legislation or regulations have been introduced
  • We need to save money
  • We have discovered a better way of doing things

As part of the service redesign process we also consult with local residents to ask their views. Although we are always interested in what our communities have to say, in some instances we are also legally obliged to seek your views on changes to services. We are committed to working together with local people to address issues that affect them. By joining in our consultations, your views can influence and inform our future decision making.

The information you give us will be used to help Tameside Council make decisions on services. Any demographic details you provide (e.g. your age, gender, ethnicity etc.) will only be used to help us make sure we have a representative view of the people in Tameside. Your personal details will never be made public and any feedback will be anonymised.

You do not have to complete any activities you do not want to. The activities you will be invited to take part in may vary greatly in terms of subject matter, length and type. It is entirely your decision to take part in any specific activity. If you have any questions you can always contact us at bigconversation@tameside.gov.uk.
